Project 2: Form & Composition – Final Design
I developed my final designs in Adobe Illustrator, printed them and mounted them onto black board.
From left to right: 1) comfort, 2) tension, 3) congestion, 4) order, 5) playfulness.
Project 2: Form & Composition – Sketches
Before sketching squares, I jotted down words that I associate with each of our 5 ideas – congestion, order, comfort, playfulness, and tension. I drew some emoticons to serve as general indicators of whether I felt the idea was positive or negative.
I also sketched some pictures of objects or situations that I associate with each idea. Then I tried to translate them into squares.
Project 2: Form & Composition – Project Description
In this project, I will express congestion, order, comfort, playfulness, and tension through design using only squares.
These ideas and emotions can be found all around us – among people, nature, and other parts of everyday life. I plan to find inspiration for the project by simply observing my surroundings throughout the day. My preliminary sketches will not necessarily be of squares.
